WW 18th March 2015
Well, that really was a treat. How wonderful, for all of us. Fancy finding a brand new tor. And a first ascent. Who would have thought it? Where we go so often, tucked away. And a lovely new valley to explore. On quite a cool evening after such a warm day.
Out to explore Routrundle, ancient settlements and homestead. No sign of the Iridium flare. Up to see the crane bases in Ingra Tor quarry and onwards. Where the swalers had been busy very recently. To Leedon for a cosy cuppa. Down past that quarry to Fur Tor and then, after a bit of work we found it. And, what a beautiful tor it is; Yes Tor. So we lingered and looked around and definitely will return. Along Yes Tor Brook and then boldly out. To places no one has been and to which no one will return. To Black Tor, the leat and the Indian's Head to the cars.
And no, we took no small pleasure in seeing them gritted.
