TWW 30th March 2021

What a wonderful day in so many ways. The weather was perfect, arms exposed, some were even wishing they had worn shorts and so lovely to SEE each other again.
A jolly bunch of 12 set out, yes it was allowed as we are a very organised, organisation although the sanitiser spray for the gates and styles had been forgotten by the leader.
Out from the ‘free’ Forest Car Park at Postbridge along the familiar track over the soggy bits of Brandon Lake, then over the stile to meet the leat snaking around the valley.
A perfect spot for coffee was found with suitably spaced rocks for all. Warm Sunshine, skylarks showing off, the sound of the river below and friends to chat to. Bliss!
Round and uppity keeping the river in view at last reaching the waterfall. A risk assessment was carried out and all crossed with ease like a herd of mountain deer.
What a wonderful spot for lunch with entertainment below watching others crossing the waterfall.
A slight detour into tussock land following another leat and the path back to the Beehive hut and a lovely feeling of freedom strolling back along the ridge to Hartland Tor and the village.
We missed you Jon but such wonderful news. Congratulations and lucky Elsie and Daisy to have you as a Grandad.

TWWs 2nd March 2021

VIrtual walking group leave Lowery Carpark , admiring benchmark on post and set off beside the much repaired wall at the edge of the woods. Across to the PCWW stone and then down to the (pictured) ANDY stone. Can you see ANDY ?

Along by the woods to the only remaining boundary stone for the iron mine. Steeply down to the railway.  Rare stone at gateway. Maybe a scramble to Yelverton Reservoir past the water shute and on to the road.
Quick peek at items at Discovery Centre then down to the lake shoreline and various features until we reach our coffee stop at Norsworthy. Plenty of farm and mill ruins and a C stone here. Up through the woods to the leat and follow lanes and leat back to the carpark.
One real day soon.
Anne
