TWW 27th October 2026

We noticed something getting out of our cars that may or may not have seen the myriad of times we've visited here. A C stone! Nobody could remember!

Have we all got group dementia?
Or may be "other" cars have parked in front of it.
Off between the pub  and little cottage , out along, roughly following  the wall to Shillamill farm. Keep going to the boundary workings leading to Roos tor.
Let's keep going, it was a lovely day!
Best not to get too close to the "danger zone" so a diagonal upwards to the cairns. Straight on to them, such a delight when the weather good and clear.
The kist was a bit broken up but the view spectacular so a photo shoot was in order.
Straight down to the boundary wall for coffee amongst the remains of a blowing house.
That done, we contoured round the side of Roos  crossing several "major" tracks to  Staple disturbing  a very  noisy snipe before following the track between Staple and Middle Staple.

Oh heaven all down hill now !

We stopped to watch a flock of golden plover doing their version of a murmeration, their undersides shining silver in the sun.
Heavenly!
On down then, past the upper part of the quarry and over the clapper and down  a mini cheddar gorge to the road and the cars.
Now it was a race to the Whitty where we enjoyed nice food and a pint.
The perfect way to end a morning's walk!

Brenda

You really do have to be there ...
