Welcomed by the calls of
curlew, woodpecker and cuckoo
it did not look
over promising
but to see, you have to go
from Saddle Tor by Emsworthy
no sign of the owls
using their boxes
and round the bog
to admire the beautiful
bog violets and
lousewort
to the new clapper bridge
to the Lawn
and there they were
in all their glory
wonderful bluebells
gleaming
gently up and on
to Greator
for the mandatory
ascent and cuppa
down the track
steeply up
in the dimpsy
with the evening chorus
by Haytor
and round
the New Old Inn
was well closed
but the Rugglestone
welcoming as ever.
