 EMSWORTHY REPEAT WALK BACKWARDS

Our usual CarPark was full!  (Probably people of a similar age, Cuckoo hunting)  So onto the next. Where we were thrilled to have a flyby from a Red Tailed Kite!  He even hovered for a bit showing off his tail feathers. A good omen for the day.
First climbing up to Saddle to have a peek. Yey! They were still there, a blue haze around Emsworthy and over on Holwell Lawn.
Chatting away enjoying the view then “what’s that” a grass snake? No a young adder. WOW! Cries of delight and “I haven’t seen one of those for years” etc. After much photographing we carried on over Holwell Tor, over the Tramway to find the track beyond Smallacombe Rocks which took us down to the footbridge. A very pleasant spot for coffee.
Then puffing up, up, up to show off the Medieval Village to Jon’s friend Bob from New Zealand. Obviously our walks have become world famous. Through the gate, the Bluebells, a bit faded but still beautiful and lots of them. The Pony Club jumps have had a makeover and multiplied.
And then the best bit - into the Reserve, along Snodderbottom Brook and into Snodderbottom wood - so good I had to name it twice!
A tranquil spot for lunch, not much chatter, all enjoying the peaceful sound of the river.
Then back along the Brook into the pond field where we saw lots of Damsel Flies.
Along the board walks we spotted Bog Bean, Kingcups (Marsh Marigolds) and a few Heath Marsh Orchids. Then the cuckoos, one in a tree then two in a tree who flew off as we watched.
As we made our way back over Saddle Tor the black clouds were gathering and the thunder threateningly close but not a drop of rain till be got back to our side of the Moor and flooded Tavi.

You really do have to be there ...
