With the warm rain gently falling and the mist softly retreating, on a long Wednesday evening where else to go?
Out from Whiteworks, over the leat and down by the houses. Across to the wall corner and along to seek out the trod. Not too tricky with good visibility. All the recent heavy rain ensured a nice bouncy way to the stream. Nimbly over and round. Goldsmith's called so up we went. Out along to the ladder down the wall and up the tin works of Whealham Bottom to the incised cross. Quite a clear track now heads steadily up the hill to Hand Hill. A pause for a cuppa; these mild evenings make everything so pleasant. The mist seemed to rise as we made our way to Nun's Cross and Sewards. Up the track and across back to the cars. On to the Prince of Wales for a chatty pint. Still very light at 10pm.
Best to make the very most of these long, long days whilst we have them.
